Andrew Burns QC of Devereux Chambers specialises in complex commercial, employment and industrial disputes, particularly injunctions and discrimination. He has featured in some of the leading appellate cases in insurance law and trade disputes in recent years including Durham v BAI (Run Off) Ltd (the Employers' Liability Policy Trigger Litigation) and for employers in Malone v British Airways and RMT v Serco (the key authority on strike injunctions). He acted for the successful appellant employee in Prophet v Huggett, a leading case on restrictive covenant injunctions. Andrew is a co-author of the Law of Reinsurance with Colin Edelman QC (2nd Ed. 2013) and Bean on Injunctions (12th Ed. 2015). He is instructed by some of the top firms and for household names. 2015 (his first year in silk) was an outstanding year and he won Lawyer Monthly's Labour and Employment Barrister of the Year as well as acting in four high value whistleblowing or discrimination claims – three involving alleged protected disclosures by senior executives. In 2016 he won Finance Monthly's Employment Barrister of the Year – UK.
