Biography

Tom Speechley is an investor, entrepreneur, and author whose work explores how companies are financed, built, and scaled. He is the founder of SX2 Ventures, an investment firm focused on building and backing innovative businesses in the human care sector, including biopharma and longevity. Over the past two decades he has invested in and helped build numerous early-stage and growth companies across healthcare, technology, and emerging markets. Tom began his career as a corporate lawyer in London, becoming a partner at Norton Rose and later at Macfarlanes. He also qualified in New York and worked with Jones Day. He then moved into private equity and venture capital, running investment platforms and funds across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. Alongside his investment work he has founded and co-founded several companies, including a regulated medical cannabis business, Zed.ai, an AI-driven longevity platform focused on preventive health and healthy ageing, and FundraiseOS, an AI-powered platform helping startup founders prepare for and execute their fundraise (forthcoming). Tom writes and speaks on law, finance, entrepreneurship, and healthcare. He is the author of Acquisition Finance (Bloomsbury Professional) and other works on corporate finance and investing. He has guest lectured at leading universities and spoken at international forums including the World Economic Forum in Davos, the United Nations, and the Inter-American Development Bank.
