Tom Speechley

Tom Speechley is a founder, lawyer, and investor with fourteen years of experience in corporate law, a decade in emerging market private equity and venture capital, and a decade building and backing companies. He trained as a corporate lawyer in London and New York, where he was a partner at Norton Rose and later at Macfarlanes, where he established their debt finance practice. He then moved into emerging market investing, running small and mid-cap investment platforms across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. In 2017, he founded SX2 Ventures to pursue his own investment activity and his passion for new healthcare models, with particular focus on lifestyle health and medical cannabis. He is the author of Acquisition Finance (Bloomsbury Professional, second edition) and has written and spoken widely on law, finance, investing, and healthcare. He has guest lectured at leading universities and been a featured speaker at the World Economic Forum, the United Nations, and the Inter-American Development Bank. He holds a First Class Honours degree in Law from the University of Sheffield and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
