Bloomsbury Studies in Disability, Art and Design

Bloomsbury Studies in Disability, Art and Design is a pioneering interdisciplinary research series that brings together critical scholarship at the intersection of visual art, visual and material culture, performance, and disability studies. By complicating dominant ableist narratives within the arts and placing people with disabilities at the centre of cultural analysis—whether as artists, performers, and designers, or as critics, viewers, and subjects—the series interrogates the exclusions and assumptions embedded in art historical discourse, while also celebrating the diverse creative practices and cultural contributions of people with disabilities, past and present. We welcome proposals for single-authored works and edited collections that offer deep theoretical, historical, and practical insights.
